Today In Meme History!!! February 18th, 2001- NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt is killed in a crash during the last lap of the 43rd Daytona 500. Earnhardt, nicknamed “The Intimidator” for his aggressive and tough racing style, was vying for third place when he collided with another car and crash into a wall. After having to be cut from his car, Earnhardt was taken to the nearby Halifax Medical Center and pronounced dead on arrival from severe head injuries. He was the fourth NASCAR driver to die from race-related injuries in the year prior to his wreck, leading NASCAR to issue new safety regulations including head and neck restraints, SAFER barriers, redesigned seatbelts, roof-hatch escape systems, and the development of the “Car of Tomorrow” that became the standard model of NASCAR racecars. 26 years of Nascar 76 wins and 7 championships Dale Earnhardt signature shirt is here. Since Earnhardt’s death, no other NASCAR racers have died during competition. Earnhardt’s legacy lived on through his son Dale Earnhardt, Jr. who retired in 2017.
Dale Earnhardt Sr. may not have been known as the King of NASCAR but he would collect 7 championships, 4 Iroc series championships and 76 victory flags in the 25 years he raced. You either loved him or hated him but either way you watched him on the track. I was lucky enough to be there in 1998 when he won the Daytona 500. His loss in 2001 changed NASCAR. That’s 26 years of Nascar 76 wins and 7 championships Dale Earnhardt signature shirt. Today safety is taken seriously and since he died NASCAR has not lost a single driver except in their modified series. The myth was that he was so good at restrictor plate tracks because “he could see the air”. Mythology challenge.. June 26.
