Funny Don’t ask us we’re just the knockers shirt is here. I love Jesus, I love God. I love His Truth. And I love people. But I don’t love packaged Christian answers. Those that tie everything up in a nice neat bow. And make life a little too tidy. Because there just isn’t anything tidy about some things that happen in our broken world. The senseless acts of violence we hear about continually in the news are awful and sad and so incredibly evil. And God help me if I think I’m going to make things better by thinking up a clever Christian saying to add to all the dialogue. God certainly doesn’t need people like me — with limited perspectives, limited understanding and limited depth — trying to make sense of things that don’t make sense.

God originally created a paradise for us out of His perfect love for us… but we turned away from it, spurning His love, not appreciating it at all. And now on Earth, we are simply seeing what it’s like to live separate from God. This is not a punishment, it’s not God’s way of being cruel. It’s merely the result of humans getting what they thought they wanted – to know evil. God never wanted us to be exposed to all of these horrors. He wanted to protect us from them. WE wanted to know evil. So now we see what a Godless world looks like. Not because God abandoned us. But because WE abandoned God. Anyone who has found their way back to Christ in their heart knows that nothing on Earth can compare. And now we’re ready to return to our Creator, humbled and knowing that we were wrong to doubt that we ever needed anything more than His love. It’s a lesson that echoes throughout all corners of our lives.
