Make leery comments at your bartender – regardless of thier gender. They don’t come into work to be creeped on. It’s even less acceptable to touch them. Snap your fingers, whistle, or grab a bartender’s attention by saying ‘When you’re ready.’ ‘When I’m ready? Why thank you Mr Magnanimous. Throw money on the bar and expect us to scoop it all up. Make a mess and then take the piss out of us as we clean it up. Dehumanizing a person is not ‘friendly banter’. Complain about the prices and make sure we know that you’re not going to tip.

So tonight Alexis, Matt, and I toured the Guinness brewery in Baltimore and we actually learned a lot. When the tasting of the Guinness Draught Stout came around, it turned into a pretty informative session. Of course the term “Irish Car Bomb” came up because its one of the main drinks ordered during St Patricks Day. But what people dont know is that the term “Irish Car Bomb” was actually a slang term from the UK for the acts of terrorism in Ireland in 1998.

It was NOT originated in Ireland and is extremely offensive to that country. It would be like someone ordering a “9/11.” It doesnt happen. So with St Patricks Day around the corner, I strongly urge you not to order the drink in that way. Instead order an Irish Slammer or an Irish Bomb Shot or dont order it at all. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk and I highly recommend visiting the brewery, you wont be disappointed.

Guinness Draught Beer, Happy St. Patrick’s day
This year, St. Patrick’s event is NOT a sit-down dinner, but organised rather as a Cocktail party “Get-Together”. We are trying to give everyone a “chic, cool, hip bar feeling” so guests can be moving around and mingle. Attire can be smart casual and cocktail dresses….NO long gowns or formal dresses and suits. But do try to have a splash of green with your ensemble. Gastronomic delights will be prepared by our very own Irish Chef, Billy King. There will be canapes served and cocktail buffet with carving stations for the main food attraction. There will be cocktail tables and high chairs around to replace our usual dinner tables.
