Have you got Hello darkness my old friend Vietnam veterans of America shirt? My dad was in Vietnam. His national guard unit was called up. In his 60’s he was diagnosed with lung cancer that had metastasized to his brain and was given only 6 months to 1 year to live. Agent orange was the cause they determined. He went for treatment at the providence VA hospital and everyone from the nurses, staff behind the desks, and doctors were wonderful. He lived over 4 years after his initial diagnosis thanks to the care he received. My family cannot thank them enough for the care and compassion shown to my dad and all of us.

My dad is a Vietnam Vet. He left for Vietnam when I was 10 days old. Thank God he is still with us, but he has suffered through PTSD, a triple bypass, colon cancer, diabetes, and now lung cancer. He gets nowhere near 100% disability from the VA. His meds are paid for as are his medical expenses, but he does not get a check of any kind… MPD got a phone call today from Vietnam Veteran’s of America chapter 992 saying they had a problem. They had done a toy drive for Toys for Tots but received too many toys and could not transport them all to the drop off station. Needless to say we were glad to be able to help the men and women who served our country.

My husband did 3 tours in Vietnam and suffers everyday as a result from those tours with Agent Orange and PTSD. What makes me so angry is because he receives disability and retirement, he isn’t eligible for the same benefits another Vet receives after 10 years and then getting out….not retiring. This man receives 100% disability from the military, retirement from a company he worked for, and social security. With Hello darkness my old friend Vietnam veterans of America shirt. He gets dental, my husband doesn’t, his wife receives 100% medical because she spent 1 tour in regular Army and because of the fact that her husband receives 100% disabilty.

I receive the very basics and am fighting to get disability now from our civilian government. Why my husband can only receive 97% disability because he also receives retirement is a mystery to me. I hope each and every one of you Vietnam Vets out there gets treated better than my Vietnam Vet does. Thank you all for your service and God bless you all for your dedication for the safety and security of our country! RLTW!! (Rangers Lead the Way). I went to the war museum in Vietnam this week. Don’t forget all of the Vietnamese victims too. Our government fucked two countries with that war.
