Hpe vsa starts here cyclic vomiting syndrome international day shirt is available. Tomorrow is International Angelman Syndrome Day! Kenna is 1-20,000. Yes those numbers are right. Angelman Syndrome is Rare. Very rare. There are so many resources for other disabilities that Angelman Syndrome lacks. If you tell someone your child has downs or autism they know what you’re talking about. When we tell someone our child has Angelman Syndrome we have to continue to educate what it is. And we will continue to do so until it is more known!! Why is it SO important for it to be known?

Because that’s how you get resources, funding for treatment and how you can help find a cure!!!! To help spread awareness for our sweet girl we are asking everyone to wear their “pray for Kenna/Angelman Syndrome Awareness” shirts tomorrow! Don’t own one of these shirts?! That’s okay! We are asking everyone who doesn’t own one, to simply wear a blue shirt to show awareness! We would love for everyone to upload a picture wearing your shirts, use the hashtags AND feel free to tag Doug & myself in your posts!!

Did you know that the shape of your horse’s back in a correct working posture is quite different from his standing posture? And that even untrained horses sometimes take this posture spontaneously, if they don’t have to do complicated, unnatural things like turning continuously or carrying a rider’s weight? Good training is therefore aimed at preserving and reinforcing this posture, especially when we do things with the horse which he is not naturally prepared for: riding him and asking him for one turn after the other in the arena.

International Day of CVS Awareness
Your horse’s ribcage is suspended between his front legs (shoulder blades and upper arms) by tendons, muscles and ligaments of the shoulder sling. That is all soft tissue; your horse does not have a clavicle that attaches his shoulder blade to his sternum, like us humans. When you sit on your horse, you add extra weight to this suspended ribcage. Hpe vsa starts here cyclic vomiting syndrome international day shirt. If you don’t train him specifically to carry this extra weight, gravity will take its toll and over time, the horse develops a “dip” in his topline in the area where the rider sits.

The back will become deeper than physiologically normal for that individual horse, the wither looks shorter and disappears at a more acute angle in the back, the ribcage will hang more in the shoulder sling and the rest of the body will develop compensations that, together with the dip in the back, are also known as topline syndrome. Muscles and fascia around the shoulders and the transition between the neck and thoracic vertebrae tighten in response to the extra load. Tension on joints, ligaments and tendons in the front legs and spine increases, which, over time, leads to reduced mobility in joints and arthritis and soft tissue injuries if the overloading continues.
