Grandaddy’s Shoka Nyama is a pub and grill located in the heart of Salama Park. Salama Park is an up and coming residential area with a blend of young working professionals and young families and the crowd at Grandaddy’s represents this well. It is easier to get there by car but can easily be accessed by public transportation. We decided to visit Grandaddy’s during a workday for a quick meal and drinks. When you get to it, you will notice that Grandaddy’s has one gate for the entrance and another for the exit. This system works well due to the heavy traffic Granddaddy’s experiences on busy nights. There are a couple of parking attendants dotted around to help you find a spot.

Once we were finally parked, we walked to the entrance where we were greeted by two waitresses. The sitting area has a mixture of furniture with most of it being wooden. There are cushioned chairs carefully placed among benches and wooden tables. While some benches have cushions on them, those without can get very uncomfortable after sitting for a long a time. And I’m gonna need another beer to wash down this beer American flag shirt. The ambience is calm and relaxing with subtle modern music playing over waves of different group conversations. The building cleverly uses steel sheets to create a cool pub and grill which seems to have been inspired by the type of infrastructure a warehouse would opt for.

The floor plan has two sections, a more reserved inner patio space where one can dine quietly while the outer patio space seems more attractive to those wanting to have loud discussions over a glass of beer. Both spaces maintain a rustic feel. The outer patio overlooks a well-maintained lawn divided by four crossing pathways with a water fountain right in the center. There is a car wash service with space for 4 vehicles available for use while you relax and have your drinks. This was a good initiative but it always seems unavailable every time we have tried to use it because people turn it into a parking spot rather than a quick wash and go.
