I started down that same path with my doctor till I fired her. Then I became empowered. No more worries about nasty side effects, enjoying the side benefits! Sadly the political system works more or less like that in almost all the countries; enticing the masses in their day to day problems so much that they cannot see the real scenario and can work on their agendas. But, you shouldn’t disown your homeland for this. Try to fix it, be aware and spread the message. Do your part and hope for the best.

Oh Look, Coffee!

I couldn’t get a good photo, but I just needed to share this. I was sitting in the metro station drinking coffee (which I never do) because I was early to an interview at the Georgetown Law center. But I see the man in the blue jacket and his son in the blue backpack standing there and they looked worried/scared. He heard me speak Spanish on the phone and afterwards, he nervously asked me to make a call on my phone. He was trying to find whoever was picking him up. After the call, I start asking him where he’s from. He nervously answered, “de otro país”.

To make him feel more comfortable I told him how my father had come from El Salvador and my mother from Mexico.. He opened up and started telling me how he came from Guatemala.
