This month is an opportunity to spread the word of suicide prevention. To tear down the walls of shame and replace it with the chance for real conversations. If you or anyone you know has lost someone to suicide or experienced an attempt post a picture of yourself or your loved one! Let’s not hide behind our grief… get it out in the open so we can talk, share and problem solve together. In September we wear Tear and Purple. Love this Suicide prevention awareness tshirt. Thank you!

Wear Teal or Purple on September 10th for Suicide Prevention Awarenss Day! We observe World Suicide Prevention Day each year on September 10. It’s a growing problem and the numbers tell a shocking story. In September we wear Tear and Purple. Every 40 seconds someone takes their own life according to the World Health Organization (WHO). That’s about 800,000 people worldwide every year — although some estimates put that number closer to 1 million.
SEPTEMBER IS SUICIDE PREVENTION MONTH. Every year, organizations and individuals across the U.S. and around the world raise #awareness of #suicideprevention during September. On Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m., #SuicidePreventionDay, uniformed personnel, civilians, retirees, and family members are invited to paint and design pair of combat boots in teal and purple in Room 188, Darling Hall. It is a time to remember those affected by suicide, to raise awareness, and to focus efforts on directing treatment to those who need it.
