And love Madea I ain’t scared of no Po Po call Da Po Pop Hoe shirt. Happy 49th birthday to Tyler Perry! I made these pipe cleaner figures of him. He plays out of make-up as attorney/lawyer Brian Simmons, Madea’s nephew. He also plays as make-up characters: Grouchy, crazy Joe Simmons, his father and Madea’s elderly brother, and last but least, Mabel “Madea” Simmons, a tough love black woman who just loves to keep a piece of steel in her handbag– her handgun. Happy birthday to this creative man who brought these characters into the world of plays and the movies.

My favorite Madea and Joe quotes: “Harpo, who this woman?” “Joe, go in your room and take your medicine! You know you crazy as hell when you don’t take it!” “I ain’t scared of no po-po. Call the po-po, ho.” “You know, I was watching the Animal Planet channel and they say that when a coyote is trapped, it will eat its own foot off to get out of the trap. You want some hot sauce? In your case it wouldn’t be a coyote, it would be an elephant. A big old giraffe.” “Girl, you better stop popping that GUM!” “All my life, I had to fight. I loves Harpo, but I’ll kill him dead before I let him beat me!” “Urr?” “Sit down, you little black leprechaun!” “Mabel gonna kill that little girl.”
It was a week today that I left out of my former employer like Madea. It was all I could do to keep from yelling back at her. “I ain’t scared of you. Call the po-po! You call the po-po!” I invisioned myself rolling across the hood of my car as I left out. Now things did NOT escalate to the point of anyone threatening to call the police. However, our anger towards one another was matched. But Madea I ain’t scared of no Po Po call Da Po Pop Hoe shirt. Last night I sat down & wrote a letter to her. Asking her forgiveness for the way I handled her actions toward me. My actions were not Christ like. We all know the verse about turning the other cheek. I knew better, but I let it get the best of me. I should not have returned anger for anger.
Call Da Po Pop Hoe!
Todays devotional was: A repeat of the Old Testament passage, Leviticus 19:18, imploring love of neighbor. The definition for love of self is, the instinct by which one’s actions are directed to the promotion of one’s welfare or well-being, especially an excessive regard for one’s advantage. Love of neighbor means respecting their boundary, blessing them, being a good listener, not stealing from them, holding no grudge against them, not being deceptive in dealing with them, treating them as how you want to be treated. Just as we love and would work to achieve goals for ourselves we are hereby asked to do the same thing for our neighbor. I’ve got a long way to go, but I’m getting there.
