Verbal preparation is entirely different from Quant prep. Verbal cannot be divided into neatly classified topics and there are no set of formulae or rules that can guide you through. Cracking this section requires a comprehensive step wise plan. No one can become proficient in grammar overnight. Learning, practicing and analysing should be done continuously over a period of time. Firstly, choose the books wisely. Start your prep with the basics in grammar and identifying few rules regarding the usage and sentence correction. Manhattan is a very good book to start with (but any other good book can also do) and has good set of questions to practice.

The sentence correction booklet should give you few rules on usage of grammar. Also, look for Apps in your smartphone to further improve your vocab. Links to all good apps is at the end of article. Refer to Vocab flashcards to learn more words, try to form sentences around them and start using them as you speak. If you usually do not talk in English, try to talk to people in English, this improves your understanding of language in general and for those who talk to friends/colleagues in English, try to minimize the slang in your English as low as possible. This will help you to avoid common errors while solving Sentence Correction & other Grammar related questions.
