Yesterday morn we were awoken at 5am by a young rooster trying to crow – sort of a cocka . . cocka. Meanwhile, I had been talking to a lovely lady Brindi. She felt quite strongly that if she was going to eat meat she wanted to see how it was prepared. So I called her and she came along to watch the process. It was actually quite a special thing to be sharing, and really made me reflect as well. How calm the birds are (the most upset they get is when you have to catch them), the different smells (which I have never noticed before) and the warmth of the body (which I had just got used to) So Brindi is my hero this week. Not only in following up on her need to experience an animal being prepared to be eaten, but also watching the whole process, and even having a go at the cleaning herself. And now – we have no roosters at all!
