Today on the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, we remember and honor the soldiers who bravely defended freedom and risked their lives during the invasion of Normandy. Specifically, I want to remember my my brother-in-law, James Harris, who took part in that invasion. James was truly an American Hero. James served in the United States Army and was a WWII veteran who served in five military campaigns in Europe: Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge), Rhineland and Central Europe. He was the recipient of the EAMET (European African Middle East Theater) Campaign Medal with five Bronze Service Stars, three Purple Hearts, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and the American Theater Campaign Medal.

James passed away a couple of years ago, but he’s not forgotten. Our family doesn’t forget James and neither does our country. Thank you James for your service and to everyone serving in our military defending our freedom. “Fate whispers to the warrior, you cannot withstand the storm!” The warrior smiles & whispers back, “I am the storm!”. With the greatest respect & appreciation to this great warrior! Rest in peace sir! Beautiful tribute Governor.
