That’s Weed sunflower shirt. The beautiful story I shared earlier today about the sunflower and Spirit set the them for the day. Our guidance card today is Sunflower from the SoulFlower Plant oracle deck by Lisa Estabrook. “Confident Sunflower stands tall and radiant, shining like the sun. When you are suffering from low self-confidence or self-doubt, Sunflower humbly reminds you of your true magnificence, instilling acceptance and understanding and allowing loving compassion to flow from your heart.” Here is a bit from Lisa’s website: “Just as our spirit, our soul, provides the blueprint for our own lives, I believe each plant has it’s own unique personality, it’s own plant spirit, or deva, that provides the blueprint for it’s life…

How and where it will grow, it’s nutritional and medicinal properties, and healing energies are all part of the blueprint. The healing energy of each plant embodies specific soul qualities, or universal spiritual truths, that are present in each one of us, like small seeds, dormant and waiting for the right conditions to sprout and grow. It is then that we start to recognize and incorporate them as part of our individual soul’s journey.” If you’re a page follower, you know my own beliefs about the healing power and wisdom of Nature. This was a special order for a mother whose child had died recently. The only instructions were blue, sunflowers, and strength. I decided to try something different and cut out the blue heart. Then on a whim I cut out another smaller heart out of the center. Next I placed the smaller heart above the larger heart which now had an empty space where the little heart came from. Then knowing the story behind the song “It is Well With My Soul”, I felt that completed it.
The beautiful story
This boy entered our foster program 2012 with significant needs because of the trauma he endured as a young child. He had attachment issues and aggressive behaviors due to the lack of parenting and guidance. As he grew up in our foster homes, he struggled early on with the structure and care that our foster parents tried to instill in him. As time went on, he learned to trust in the foster parents and the treatment team from Foundations. There were still struggles as he matured, but these became less severe and less frequent as he connected with his foster parents. In October of 2018, Tylor was officially adopted by his foster parents and he had his forever home!
