My mom was pregnant with me when my dad left for Vietnam to work as a surgeon in an evac hospital. He returned home when I was almost a year old. It was just a year of his life, but hearing the way his voice always changes when he recounts his experiences there, I know it impacted his life in many ways, known and unknown. From my perspective, he served selflessly in Vietnam, and that carried over to fatherhood as well. Thank you Dad, and thank you to all Veterans and active servicemen and servicewomen for whom selfless service is a daily decision.

My Dad was an x-ray tech in Vietnam! He was in the Army! Thank you to your Dad for his service! Amen to that. I thank your Dad for his excellent work in the Vietnam War. One of my old partners in crime was there and he had a crew. I’m a dad and a Vietnam veteran, you can’t scare me. They came under fire by the Viet Cong and his men were pinned down into a lower crest of land and they were being shot so with his back pack carrying about 10 grenades he jumped on top of his men to save them from certain death and an enemy fire hit his back pack.

He had 2nd and 3rd degree burns all over his head, face, arms, torso and parts of his legs. He lived to tell the story and was approached when the movie “Hamburger Hill” was written. He was quite extraordinary in his courage. No one comes home good again. I just lost my son who was 22 on mother’s day this year. You can’t scare me I’m a Vietnam veteran and a dad. He toured Afghanistan. Was home just a few months. Rea you are an inspiration to me. Hugs… Thank you, sir for your service … And thank you to all veterans for you service.
